Investment Route – The Golden Visa
Developed in October 2012, the ability to acquire a Golden Visa for Portugal fast tracks and facilitates the investment and residency application process.
The government approved investment routes are:
• Acquisition of real estate with a value of at least €500.000
• Capital investment of at least €1.000.000
• Creation of at least 10 new jobs
Investments that meet these criteria allow an applicant residency in Portugal for 5 years. Investments must be held for the duration of this period.
At the end of this period applicants are eligible to apply for Portuguese citizenship.
Business Development Route – Corporate investment
Passport to Portugal and associates have over 25 years experience in corporate structures and fiscal planning both in Portugal and internationally. This experience will be deployed to assist applicants electing to take the Business Development Route.
The creation of an economic base and business activity in Portugal allows for 5 years temporary residency in Portugal.
For the purposes of the Business Development route to residency, investment into the country via the creation of a Portuguese company is the soundest option.
If you:
• Own your own business
• Have business interests in Europe or Portugal
• Have the ability to make ongoing investment and or intercompany transactions
You are in a position to benefit from this route!
The cornerstone is the development of a corporate structure and a property investment. Passport to Portugal and its associates will not only assist with the initial set up but ongoing management by Windsor Hill consulting will help establish a working relationship and, potentially lucrative business opportunities within the EU and your home country.
The stipulated regulations for the business development route to residency are somewhat more stringent than the Golden Visa route in terms of presence in Portugal and maintaining economic activity.
Retirement Route – Retire to Portugal (www.retiretoportugal.net)
For those approaching their “golden years”, the retirement route is an easy way to acquire Portuguese residency.
The process involves the acquisition of a property, proof of adequate income, and health insurance valid in Portugal and willingness to spend/commit some time in the country.
This is particularly relevant to those in a position to spend the inclement months of the year in Portugal, South African winters or Middle Eastern summers for example, so they get the best of both worlds.
Exceptional benefits which can apply to retirement are the 0% rated tax on pension and passive income and the absence of inheritance tax on assets bequeathed to inline members of the family.
